This episode truly was the worst.Īs if it wasn't bad enough, after they already cut it so short, the third episode just proceeded to spoil events that are way further down the line in the manga. In the manga, this arc was primarily about Narumi and Hirotaka - with emphasis on Narumi falling even deeper for Hirotaka during their company's organized travel to a hot spring resort.īut instead of giving us adequate coverage, we only got a quickie that didn't even cover the part where they went to a festival nearby and Narumi was hit on by a bunch of thugs and had to be rescued. I had some high hopes for it, because it was about the best arc in the story - the company resort. Last one is just everything but the kitchen sink mashed up together. But, it does its job for anyone who wanted to shed some light on the duo. Really, their story was told in much greater detail in the manga. It deals with the youngest couple (to be) in the show and the least significant one - Naoya and Kou, or the dweeb (for lack of a better word) and the literal gamer girl. Had I not watched this OVA before diving into the manga, I'd probably get somewhat lost. This writer does that a lot and I hate it. Kind of spread over multiple floating chapters. It's sort of a prequel, as it goes back to them both in high school. So, the first OVA is about the coming together of the most senior couple in Wotakoi - Kabakura and Koyanagi, or the casual otaku and the cosplayer, if you will. These OVA episodes give some much needed attention to the two other less significant couples of the show. The main couple of Wotakoi are Hirotaka and Narumi - the gaming addict and fujoshi doujinshi writer.

Disclaimer: I read the manga, so I feel I'm in position to give a more wholesome picture.
